Harry R.Bud Mong, 83 of 116 Mill St. Cooperstown, died at 4:20 A.M. Sunday October 17, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Oil City.
Born in Van on January 30, 1927 he was the son of the late Lloyd and Iva Webber Mong.
Mr. Mong attended Rockland Schools.
He was a truck driver and drove for Warner Smith and Mushroom and Lyons, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Teamsters union.
Mr. Mong proudly served in the US Air force during WWII. He was a motor pool Sergeant stationed in Italy.
On February 6, 1957 he married the former Dorothy Goodman and she preceded him in death on April 20, 2000.
He is survived by his step-daughter Peggy Anne Dawley and her husband Allen Paul of Hayesville, NC; one grandson, Jeffrey Waitkus and his wife Cherish of Timberlake, NC; one granddaughter Tracy Keller and her husband Eric of Cuba, NY; two great grandsons Kyle Waitkus and Maddox Keller; one great granddaughter Riley Keller; one sister in law Helen Ziegler and her husband Ted of Venus, PA and two sisters.
Friends will be received from 1-2 P.M. Saturday at Huff Chapel Inc. 312 West Park St. Franklin. Military honors will be rendered by the V.E.T.S Honor Guard at 2:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
Interment will be at Perry Cemetery in Fertigs.
