Alice Mae Sanford, 86, of Oakwood Heights Nursing Home, Oil City died at 10:01 a.m. Tuesday April 1, 2014 at UPMC Northwest.
A daughter of George Wilson and Sarah Ann Patterson Sanford she was born in Franklin on January 24, 1928. She attended the Franklin public schools.
She had been employed as a dishwasher at the Central Restaurant. As Alice never married, she continued to live at home and became a dedicated caregiver to her parents in their later years.
She enjoyed visiting the senior center participating with the events of the blind association and doing crafts.
She was preceded in death by four brothers William J. and Lee Sanford and infants Charles and George, two sister Margaret Masters and Jean Hood. Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law Susan Sanford of Oil City.
Friends will be received in the Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 W. Park St., Franklin from 10 am until 2 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held in the chapel if the funeral home at 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. James Waugh, pastor of the Resurrection Baptist Church officiating.
Interment will follow in Franklin Cemetery.Memorials if desired may be made to Venango County Association for the Blind, PO Box 515, Seneca PA 16346.
