Alice Westlake, 88 of 1344 Franklin Avenue, Franklin died at 6:36 A.M. on March 12, 2014 in her home.
She was born in Three Forks, Kentucky on September 27, 1925, a daughter of Floyd and Annabelle Westlake.
Her family later moved to Franklin where Alice attended local schools, graduating from Franklin High School in 1943. In 1944 her family moved to a farm in Humphrey, New York. Although Alice continued to live in Franklin, she made frequent visits to the farm, vacationed there regularly and for a time made it her home. The farm was a source of great enjoyment for her, and it remained in the family until 2013.
Alice was employed for several years as a personal assistant to Kathryn Kuhlman, a traveling evangelist and faith healer well-known throughout the country in the mid-twentieth century. She devoted her life to caring for her parents and grandparents and sister Mary during their lives, and she derived great satisfaction from doing so. She later served as a private home caregiver for a number of Franklin residents, a position she held for the remainder of her working life.
Alice enjoyed traveling abroad, especially with her friend Susan Miller. She was a voracious reader and an avid student of the stock market. She was very strong in her Christian faith.
Alice is survived by a half-brother, Warren Westlake of Gravois Mills, Missouri as well as by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Westlake and Maebelle Scott, of Humphrey, New York.
There will be no visitation.
