Barbara Lou Plowman

Barbara Lou Plowman, 89, of Franklin, passed away at 5:44 A.M., Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.

Born at home in Dempseytown on June 28, 1931 she was a daughter of the late Clair and Ruth Heck Hartman.

She was a graduate of Dempseytown High School. Growing up on her family farm, she milked cows each day before school. Barb picked apples for 5 cents a bushel at her father’s orchard which was known as Hartman’s Orchard.

Barb spent her time canning, cooking and enjoyed turkey dinners. She loved spending time in her flower beds and gardening.

On June 16, 1949 she married Robert L. Plowman and he preceded her in death on April 14, 2008.

Surviving is a son, Randall Lee Plowman and his wife Kathleen Marie “Sis”; three grandchildren, Brandy Tanee Dugan and her significant other Kevin Roundtree, Breena Renee Myers and her husband Ron Myers III and Monica Plowman; a great-grandson, Christopher Plowman and one sister, Jean Tenza.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Richard Allan Plowman; a sister, Glady Craft and a grandson, Brock Adam Plowman.

At Barb’s request there will be no visitation or services.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin.

Barb will be laid to rest with her husband at Bethel Cemetery.
