Barry E. Mcclintock

Barry E. McClintock, 61, of 11 Lamberton Street, Franklin, died at 1:48 a.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013 at his home following a courageous yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer.



A son of Gerald A. and Lois E. Rankin McClintock he was born in Franklin on June 29, 1951. He was a 1969 graduate of Rocky Grove High School. He earned his B.A. in Special Education from Slippery Rock University.



He was retired from Polk Center in 2005 after 33 years of service. At the time of his retirement he was the supervisor of mental retardation services.



Barry had two primary passions in his life. The first was his family. He had strong family values and documented many of the family gatherings with home videos and his love of photography has helped bring back wonderful memories of the times spent together. His dogs completed his family and they were his companions on many walks. His second passion was sports. He was an avid golfer, basketball and softball player and had bowled three 300 games. He had been a constant presence in the Tri-County Softball league, Men?s League at Miller Sibley, the 35 and over League in Meadville as well as the 55+ League in Oil City. He continued to play basketball at the Franklin and Oil City YMCAs and local summer leagues. Barry also was a proud follower of the Black and Gold being a fan of both the Steelers and Pirates. He also enjoyed traveling and had visited Alaska and Hawaii among many other places. Motorcycling was another of Barry?s interests.



On September 22, 1979 he married the former Catherine Grzasko, she survives along with two daughters Kasey Lynn Hoffman and her husband Mike of Oil City and Kari Leigh McClintock of Franklin, a grandson Landon Hoffman and a granddaughter Findley Hoffman, a brother David McClintock and his wife Sherri of Lewes, DE and a sister Janet Aaron and her husband James of Franklin. Very important to Barry were his extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and his many friends and teammates including a lifelong friend, Scott Walters of Franklin.



He was preceded in death by his parents.



Friends will be received in the Christ United Methodist Church, 1135 Buffalo Street, Franklin from 10-11 a.m. Saturday. Memorial services will be held in the church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Janz, pastor officiating.
