Beatrice M. Fobes, 99, of Boyers Road, Harrisville, died at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at her daughter's residence in Hermitage. She had lived in the Harrisville area most of her life. Born in Kiester, Slippery Rock Township, Dec. 19, 1910, she was the daughter of Calvin Hockenberry and Mary J. (Myers) Hockenberry. She was a homemaker and an avid gardener. Mrs. Fobes was of the Protestant faith. She married Alfred J. Fobes in 1929, and he died June 2, 1983. Surviving are a daughter, E. Jean Fobes of Hermitage; a daughter-in-law, Shirley M. (Sutton) Fobes of Harrisville; grandchildren, Jeffrey L. Fobes of Harrisville, with whom she resided, John A. Fobes of Pittsburgh, Mark A. Fobes of Prospect and S. Marie De Ross of Conneaut Lake; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris M. Christie; a son, John Arthur Fobes; four sisters; and five brothers. FOBES - There will be no visitation or service. Private burial for Beatrice M. Fobes, who died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010, will be held Wednesday at Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville.
