Billy R. Mong

Billy R. Mong, 89 of Georgetown Rd. Franklin, passed early Thursday morning June 5, 2014 at his residence.

Born December 26, 1924 in Franklin he was the son of the late Lawrence Mong Sr. and Lula Reagle Mong.

Mr. Mong served honorably in the United States Army with the 278th Field Artillery Battalion in Patton's Third Army during WWII. He served in France, Germany and Belgium.

Billy was an avid reader, hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors.

He was a devoted Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan.

Mr. Mong loved to work with his hands and was always tinkering and repairing things in his garage.

He loved animals, especially his cats and dogs over the years.

Billy worked at Joy for over 38 years as a welder.

He was a loving, kind, and understanding father and husband who always went above and beyond for his family.

On April 19, 1944 he married the former Alice Mae Beers and she preceded him in death on January 5, 2007.

Surviving are three children; Terry W. Mong Sr. and his wife Sara of Franklin, Linda D. Mong of Greenville and Timothy J. Mong and his wife Pat of Rouseville; eight grandchildren, Terry W. Mong Jr., Todd A. Mong and his wife Lisa, Tina M. Mong, Susan M. Kelly and her husband Mike, Dale R. Green Jr. and his wife SueAnn, James C. Green, Tyrel Mong and Rachel Mong; and eight great-grandchildren, Kaitlynn N. Kriek, Ryan M. Kriek, Devin A. Green, Jeffrey D. Green, Jessica L. Millich, Megan P. Green, and Payton E. Mong and Alexa Mong.

Family and friends welcome Monday from 10:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. at Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 312 West Park St. Franklin.

Military honors will be rendered at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.

Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
