Byrl “Pete” Shaffer

Born in Franklin on May 2, 1937, he was the son of the late Millard E. And Della I. DeLong Shaffer. 

He worked for many years as Manager at Sehman Tire Service 

Byrl was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many fishing trips with family to Black Lake in New York and also to Canada. He also enjoyed hunting.

Family was everything and he cherished time with his children and grandchildren. He was a man of few words but certainly always had a witty saying. 

He enjoyed cooking and more so the eating of the food. Byrl was an avid fan of studio wrestling and the Pittsburgh Steelers. 

On July 9, 1957 he married the former Sally Shawgo at Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin and she preceded him in death on March 7, 2014. A loving husband, Byrl did everything for his wife including playing countless card games. 

Surviving are two daughters; Pamela Boal of Franklin and Debra Krizon and her husband Jason of Raymilton; eight grandchildren, Amy Jones and her husband Dale of Franklin, Leigh Ann Ziegler and her wife Jolene Ziegler of Franklin, Gary Boal Jr. and his wife Sue of Franklin, Cristina Rice and her husband John Jr. of Franklin, Peter Boal and his wife Angela of Omaha, NE, Mark Boal and his fiancé Nikki of Polk, Nathanael Krizon and his wife Sydney of Pittsburgh and Nicholas Krizon of Raymilton; one sister, Barbara Koser and eight great-grandchildren, Dawson Jones, Conner Jones, Lilly Rice, Nyk Beer, Daymian Boal, Justyne Boal, Kylie Boal and Taylor Boal and one great-great grandchild, Ryker Beer.   

He was preceded in death by his wife, four siblings and a great-granddaughter, Chayla.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin where family and friends are welcome from 2:00 - 5:00 P.M. Tuesday.

A funeral service will be held at 5:30 P.M. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Ben Zeigler of Oak Grove Church, officiating. 

He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Franklin Cemetery.
