Gene C. Gumpp, 89, of Slippery Rock died at 12:15 p.m. Saturday at the Autumn Grove Care Center in Harrisville.
He was born on Feb. 4, 1923, in St. Louis, Mo., to Warren D. Gumpp and Myrtle (Miller) Gumpp.
He was a heavy equipment operator for Sechan Lime Stone of Portersville and retired with more than 33 years of service.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Slippery Rock United Methodist Church, and he was an avid gardener.
He was first married to Ruth L. (Carnahan) Gumpp, and then he married Vera M. (Johnston) Knight Gumpp. Both of his wives preceded him in death.
Surviving are his four daughters, Carol Byers and her husband, Ron, of Portersville, Julie Crooks and her husband, Scott, of Karns City, Norma Johnson and her husband, Harold, of Sharpsville and Karen Little and her husband, Bob, of Fredonia; his four sons, Warren Gumpp and his wife, Linda, of New Castle, Clyde Gumpp and his wife, Betty, of New Castle, Lee Gumpp of Butler and Kevin Gumpp of New Castle; stepchildren, Debra Reeder and her husband, John, of Grove City, Richard Knight of Harrisville, Stephen Knight and his wife, Donna, of Harrisville and Don Knight and his wife, Robin, of Grove City; 30 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He also is survived by a half-sister.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives and two brothers.
GUMPP - Friends of Gene C. Gumpp, who died Saturday, March 31, 2012, will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Pamela S. Gardner, pastor of Slippery Rock United Methodist Church, officiating.

The burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Harrisville.
