Carol L.

Carol L. Orr, 72 of 1412 Otter St., Franklin, died at 2:40 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2010 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.
She was born on October 10, 1937 a daughter of Samuel T. and Mildred B. Butler Ford. She graduated from Ford City High School and in 1959 she graduated from Grove City College with a degree in Education. She also attended classes at the University of Mexico in Mexico City.
Carol taught classes in English and Spanish at Ford City and later at Fox Chapel and then for over 30 years in Franklin, retiring in 2000. After her retirement from public schools she taught Spanish at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville for 5 years.
She loved her job of teaching and her students. She was well known for her student trips to Mexico and Spain. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband to Spain, Costa Rica, Mexico and to Charleston, South Carolina.
Another enjoyment for her was shopping.
She was a member of the Wednesday Club in Franklin.
Carol married Kenneth C. Orr on April 4, 1963, he survives along with two daughters, Michelle Orr-Gray, Wexford; Suzanne Beach and her husband Richard, Franklin; three grandchildren, Kyle Ditzenberger, Kate Ditzenberger and Sophia Beach all of Franklin; a step-grandson, Spencer Gray, Warren, PA; two brothers Edward Ford, Olympia, WA; and Samuel Ford and his wife Roseann, Severn, MD.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son-in-law Casey Gray.
Friends will be received in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jack Kyle officiating.
Interment will be made in the Franklin Cemetery.
