Charles Edwin Benn,86, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday morning, October 15, 2013 at Grove Manor Nursing Home, Grove City. A son of Edwin and Grace Kent Benn he was born in New Castle on August 24, 1927.�� Mr. Benn had been employed at the Bessemer in Grove City and served with the fire police in Titusville. He attended the Baptist Church in Slippery Rock while he lived at Spruce Wood Commons.��He faithfully attended the Grove Manor worship services. Charles enjoyed listening to and playing country music on his guitar.��He was a fan of Johnny Cash and John Wayne.��In his younger days he enjoyed hunting and fishing.��Chico, his dog, was his companion and they spent many hours together while he kept his car immaculate. He married the former Dorothy Edamae Rust; she died December 15, 2001. Surviving are his older brother John Guntrum of California,��a niece, Kathleen Nock and her husband Paul of Slippery Rock, two great-nieces Lori Shah and Amy Claycomb both of Grove City. Also surviving are many friends and beloved caregivers at Grove Manor. He was preceded in death by his wife, his mother Grace Guntrum, his father Edwin Benn, two brothers Sam and Hugh Guntrum, and 6 sisters Maude Heasley, Gertie Crispin, Sarah Dailey, Grace Collingwood, Doretha Hardesty, and Lavina Saylor. Funeral services will be held in the Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Kenton Shaw retired pastor of Wayside Community Church officiating. Interment will follow in Union Home Cemetery. Memorial donations if desired may be made to the Grove Manor Activities Fund, Grove Manor, 435 N. Broad St., Grove City PA 16127
