Charles Lloyd Umstead, 70, of Franklin, passed away at 1:00 A.M. On Saturday June 1, 2019 at Oakwood Heights in Oil City.
Born in Butler on June 12, 1948 he was the son of the late Daniel and Dorothy Caulwell Umstead.
Lloyd worked for a number of years at Polk Center as an RSA and retired from there.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed gardening.
Lloyd was an avid wresting fan and coach who not only coached his sons but also had a very strong bond with his grandson Malik and helped him with his wrestling career.
Surviving are two children; Cassandra Johnson of Franklin and Craig Umstead and his wife Leann of Franklin; a sister, Shirley Diefenderfer of Franklin and eleven grandchildren, Tyara Johnson, Olivia Welton, Jordan Johnson, Bryce Umstead, Malik Carney, Breanna Umstead, Kayla Johnson, Hunter Umstead, Jonah Umstead, Aaliyah Anderson and Issac Anderson.
He was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Umstead and nine siblings, May Kaye, Sara Meals, Mary Briley, Betty Manross, Daniel Umstead Jr., Dorothy Longwell, Joan Boyles, Clarence Umstead and Barbara Umstead.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Oakwood Heights for the excellent care they provided to Lloyd.
