Connie L. Schenck, 77,of Franklin, passed away peacefully at Oakwood Heights Village on Christmas Eve with her family at her side.
Born in Franklin on June 16, 1947, Connie was the daughter of the late John "Jack" Bunce Jr. and Norma Heffernan Bunce.
Graduating from Rocky Grove High School in 1965, Connie worked briefly at a couple of retail stores in Franklin, then at the Wesson Department Store before studying computer operations and programming at Electronic Computer Programming Institute in Pittsburgh. With that training she worked in the computer department at Franklin Steel.
On April 3, 1971, she married Steve Schenck and moved to Newport, R.I. to become a Navy Wife. When Steve went to sea, she would go home and work at Franklin Steel. After the Navy they moved to the Cleveland area where she became a homemaker and mother. They returned to Franklin in 1976 where Connie helped with Cub Scouts, acted as a soccer team assistant when her kids played in Meadville, and served as treasurer of the Franklin Soccer Club and then the Oil Region Soccer Association.
Connie was a member of the Grace Church of Rocky Grove. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids, and she always enjoyed the Heffernan family picnics. She was an avid reader who loved working crossword puzzles, Sudoku and Cryptoqoutes. For many years she also enjoyed Macrame projects for all seasons.
An avid sports fan, Connie supported the Tennessee Lady Volunteers Basketball and coach Pat Summit, as well as the Pirates, the Steelers, Penn State and Pitt.
Surviving are her husband, her sons, Ryan Schenck, Nathan Schenck and wife Mary Beth (Amond) and their children Zachary and Eliana, Her sister Deb (Bruce) Smith and Sister-in-law Cindy Schenck and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-laws Ed and Kay (Kiefer) Schenck and her sister and sister's husband Carol and Rock Rough, Brother-in-law and sister's-in-law Ed and Linda (Burns) Schenck and Muara (Alger) Schenck. Connie will be dearly missed by her family.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 312 West Park St., Franklin where family and friends are welcome 12:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M. Saturday for visitation.
The funeral service will follow at 2:30 P.M. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Ken Duffee of Grace Church of Rocky Grove, officiating.
Interment at The Franklin Cemetery will be held following the service.
