Daniel R. "Bandana" Garris

March 24, 1951 — March 25, 2017

Daniel R. Garris. 66, (known to friends as BanDANa) of Franklin took his last ride home to his Lord on Saturday, March 25, 2017, the youngest son of Chester and May Garris. His education started at Victory Joint School and later Rocky Grove Jr. Sr. High School where he graduated in 1969. After graduation he worked at Weston's grocery in both Franklin and Titusville. He attended welding school in New Castle and after receiving his certification worked in the Midwest on grain silos.

He served in the United States Navy as a welder in Washington State at the Sub Base in Refitting. After Discharge he returned to PA. he found his footing and moved to Ft. Lauderdale and worked for the Florida Department of Transportation as a welder on the Bridge crew/maintenance department for 10 years, retiring after a severe motorcycle accident leaving him disabled. He returned to Franklin where he lived until his passing.

BanDANa was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and of late could be seen on his Yellow Mule in the summer months. He was also a diehard Pittsburgh Steeler fan who bled black and gold for his team. He enjoyed helping friends and anyone who needed a hand. He cultivated many new friendships from Florida to PA through the Moose organization which he enjoyed.

Surviving is a son James J. Stevens (wife Miguelinu) of NC., brothers Gerald Garris (wife , Barbara) of Franklin, Richard Garris (wife Sara) of Franklin, sister Myrna Pease of Lima, NY and a twin sister Debra Phelan-Best (husband LeRoy) of Emlenton, Pa., and 10 nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Daniel Chester Garris in December of 1960, his mother E. May (Carothers) Garris in May of 2014, a niece Jamie L Jacoby in July of 2013, his grandparents Howard Garris, Alberta Berlin Garris, Allen Carothers and Rebecca Kerr Carothers.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., 312 West Park Street, Franklin where family and friends are welcome from 4:00-7:00PM Tuesday and from 10:00-11:00 AM Wednesday. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gene Lenk, Pastor of Emlenton United Methodist Churches officiating.

Military Honors will be rendered by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard at the conclusion of the funeral service.

Interment will be at the Franklin Cemetery on Rocky Grove Avenue

BanDANa was a supporter of the humane society, it was his wish that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Venango Humane Society, PO Box 1045, Oil City. Pa.
