David D. Irwin, 71, of Cooperstown, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, November 24, 2019.
Born in Oil City on February 13, 1948 he was a son of the late Donald C. and Helen O. Wessell Irwin.
He was a 1967 graduate of Oil City High School.
David worked for many years in the print shop at Quaker State until his retirement. In his spare time he enjoyed building and flying model airplanes. David was an avid reader and was interested in many technical subjects. He was very knowledgeable in photography and over the years, became an accomplished photographer.
David cared deeply about the environment which led him to volunteer with Venango PA Senior Environmental Corps. He helped test water in streams throughout the county and also searched for abandoned gas and oil wells so they could be plugged. David also volunteered with Venango County RSVP.
David attended the Christian Science Church in Erie and Butler.
He enjoyed flowers, gardening, bird watching and his two beloved cats.
On June 1, 1996 he married Claudette Bedard and she survives.
Also surviving is a sister; Cynthia Dennis and her husband Kevin of Cooperstown; two nephews, Stephen Dennis of Titusville and Timothy Dennis of Cooperstown.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Richard Irwin.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin where family and friends are welcome from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 3, 2019.
A time of reflection and sharing will be held at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
