Donald I. Moore

Donald I. Moore, 83 of 1180 Mercer Road, Franklin, passed away at 8:25 pm on June 30, 2018 at Sugarcreek Station. Donald was born on August 17, 1934 in Franklin to the late Donald F. Moore and Ruby Morrison Moore Edwards.

Donald received his GED and went on to serve his Country in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1952 until 1956. Following his service he worked at GTE as an installer and repair man, retiring in 1993 after 35 years of service.

Donald loved animals, especially his dogs and horses, and raised and owned many horses over the years. He combined his interest in horses and youth of the area by serving as a 4-H leader and a member of the Venango County Fair Directors for 20 years. He was also a member of the American Quarter Horse and American Paint Horse Associations.

On October 4, 1974, Donald married his beloved wife, Nancy Ann Fuller Burkhardt, at Galloway United Methodist Church by Rev. William McCray. Nancy survives at home.

In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by two daughters, Georgia Eakin and husband Mike, and Lisa Curran and husband Pat, both of Franklin, three step-children Karen Greska and husband Marty of Kennerdell, Dan Burkhardt and wife Beth of Franklin, and Penny Ferringer and husband Jack of Titusville. 9 grandchildren, Matt Keith and wife Bonnie, Nathan Keith and wife Justine, Josh Keith and wife Kristen, Natalie Miller and husband KC, Nick Moore, Timothy Skarupski, Connor Curran, Cherian Burkhardt, and Jackson Ferringer, 8 great-grandchildren Preston Keith, Braylin Keith, Wren Keith, Quinlynn Keith, Hayden Keith, Carson Keith, Lincoln Miller, and Lilly Moore, and his beloved Lab, Laci.

In addition to his parents Don and Ruby, Donald was preceded in death by his son Don Moore, son-in-law Ray Keith, a sister Laurie Moore, and his step-mother Janet Allio Moore.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

As per Donald's wishes, there will be no public services.

Interment will take place in Lupher Chapel Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in Donald's name to the Venango County 4-H, 867 Mercer Road, Franklin, PA 16323.
