Donald Leroy Goughler, 86, a resident of The Presbyterian Home, formerly of Franklin, Pa., Passed away on Thursday September 29, 2011 at 8:47 a.m. after a long battle with Dementia.
Born on December 7th 1924 in Fertigs, Pa. he was the son of Charles Elmer and Mary Eva Earley Goughler.
A World War II veteran, he served in the 8th Army Air Corps in England, 446th Heavy Bombers Group, flying 27 missions over occupied Europe and Germany in B-24s, obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant at time of discharge.
After discharge Donald went to Auto Body Repair School, had his own body shop in Reno for years then worked at local garages and retired in 1987 from Kimes Chevrolet-Buick in Grove City.
In his early years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and coaching Little League and Pony League Baseball.
He is survived by his wife Mary Jane Graham Goughler whom he married August 28, 1982, five sons: Bogan N. Goughler and his wife Carolyn ?Cookie? Goughler of Reno, Pa., Braden L. Goughler and his wife Debbie of Fairless Hills, Pa., Boyd E. Goughler and his wife Vicki of Reno, Pa., Bruce L. Goughler and his wife Mary Ann of Sharpsville, Pa., Barry A. Goughler and his wife Marian ?Jackie? of Franklin, Pa.; step-daughter Bridget Ann Boyer Theriaque and her husband John of Franklin, Pa. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
He first married Marjorie L Stuchell April 6th 1946, who preceded him in death December 29th 1977, also preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers Lester Henry Goughler, Arthur Glenn Goughler, Ralph Leonard Goughler, four sisters Hazel Marie Goughler Foust, Agnes May Goughler Miller, Ruth Margaret Goughler Perry Hazlett, Helen Irene Goughler McHenry Goodman, and one granddaughter Amanda Suzzanne Goughler.
Friends will be received in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St. from 6-9 p.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 2 p.m. Sunday with Mr. Goughler?s nephew the Rev. Leonard Goughler, pastor of New Athens Church of God of Prophecy officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.
Interment will follow in the Reno Cemetery.
