Doreen R. Frye, 73, of 112 James Terrace, Franklin passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013 at UPMC Northwest, Seneca, PA, after a long and courageous battle with cancer and diabetes.
She was born December 1, 1939 in North Huntingdon, PA a beloved daughter of Jane Milne Roberts and the late William Roberts.
She graduated in 1957 from North Huntingdon High School.
On October 14, 1960 she married Edwin W. Frye.
Doreen retired in 1998 from the Franklin Area School District where she worked as an aide and secretary.
She attended St. John?s Episcopal Church in Franklin.
Her hobbies included needlework, knitting, spending time with her family, card club and golf. She loved attending concerts, especially those of family members and The Franklin Silver Coronet Band.
She will be remembered as a great Mom and Grandmother, as well as for her unending cheerfulness.
Doreen is survived by her husband Edwin W. Frye of Franklin, her daughter Donna Kisner and her husband David of Saegertown, PA and her son Frederick Frye and his wife Robin of Polk, PA.
A loving Mema, Doreen is survived by her grandchildren, Randall Frye, Nathaniel Frye, Anna Kisner, and Eric Kisner. Doreen adored her grandchildren, who meant the world to her and she cherished her time with them.
She is also survived by her mother, Jane Roberts of North Huntingdon and her brother James Roberts of New Stanton, PA.
She was preceded in death by her son Robert K. Frye, her father William Roberts, and her sister Diane Kukla.
A memorial service will be held at St. John?s Episcopal Church, 1145 Buffalo Street, Franklin at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2013 with The Rev. Holly A. Davis, rector of the church, presiding.
