Doretha V. Shultz, 88, Franklin, died at 11:40 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2012, at Sugar Creek Station.
She was born Feb. 7, 1924, in Brady?s Bend, Pa., to Frank and Mabel (Wiles) Hicks. On June 11,1942.
She married Paul Shultz, who is deceased.
Doretha was a caretaker, through and through. She worked for decades at Franklin Hospital, where she was affectionately known by her many friends as ?Shultzie.? She retired as ward secretary in the mid-1980s. After her time at the hospital, she spent many more years tirelessly caring for loved ones and family members through illnesses.
She played the electric organ and had a weak spot for chocolate-covered cherries. More than anything, she liked to tell stories about her three sons.
She adored her caretakers and friends at Sugar Creek Station and loved her weekly beauty regimens.
She is survived by two sons, Danny Shultz and companion Cheryl Brouillette, of Loganville, Ga.; Dennis Shultz, of Nedrow, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Chris and wife Theresa Shultz, of Lubbock, Texas,and Erin Shultz and fiance Drew Larison, of Kokomo, Ind.; and two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Emily.
She is preceded in death by her husband; a son, Tim; sisters, Enid,Berneda and Helen, a brother, Bill; and a granddaughter, Bernadine.
There will be no visitation.
Graveside services will be held at Lupher Chapel Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Huff Chapel Inc., 312 W.Park St., Franklin.
