Edward W.Hump� Walz, 78, of 131 Miller Road, died at 6:36 a.m. Monday September 14, 2009 at UPMC Northwest.
A son of Fred W. and Ada Burns Walz he was born in Oil City on November 28, 1930. He was a 1948 graduate of Franklin High School.
He began his working career with B.F. Goodrich Tire Co and later worked at PennAire. In 1976 he established Walz Tire and Auto Repair Service. Mr. Walz was a life member of the Franklin Elks Lodge and enjoyed the bowling and golfing leagues. He was a member of the Franklin Re-Arm baseball team that was a member of the Hayrake League in the late 50s and early 60s. A sports enthusiast he watched the Pittsburgh Steelers and golfing on TV.
On January 18, 1952 he married the former Peggy L, Phillips; she died December 2, 2004.
Surviving are two daughters Freddie L. Trinch of Erie and Bobbi Walz of Franklin; a son Bernard Walz and his wife Kim of Franklin; four grandchildren Chris Trinch and Chad Trinch both of Erie, Richard Roos and his wife Jamie of Franklin and Joe Roos and his wife Emily of Hershey and three great-grandchildren Madison Trinch of Reno, Austin Horner of Franklin, and Jenna Roos of Franklin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and step-mother Iva Donnell Walz.
There will be no visitation.
Private memorial services will held at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be made in Grove Hill Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity committee of the Franklin Elks Lodge #110, 1309 Buffalo Street, Franklin PA 16323.
