Elizabeth Marie Card Monroe

Elizabeth Marie Card Monroe, 87, of Franklin formerly of Corry, passed away at 5:27 A.M., Saturday, December 11, 2021 at her home.

Born May 14, 1934 in Rathbone, NY, she was a daughter of the late Gerald Card and Eva Vine Card. She was their 12th child out of 17.

On December 18, 1959 she married William Roy Monroe and he preceded her in death.

She was a Certified Nurse’s Aide for 15 years.

Elizabeth was most proud of her children. She loved being a Mom and she put everything she had into it. She thoroughly enjoyed being an Aunt, Grammy and a great-Grammy. She had the ability to make each and everyone around her feel like they were the most important person in the world and that they were truly loved. She was also a “Mom” to many of her children’s good friends.
She enjoyed being with her family first and foremost. Her hobbies included reading, crocheting and taking care of her family.

Surviving are her five children, JoLorrene “Lori” Monroe of Crest Hill, IL, Rebecca (Thomas) Nagy of Sabinsville, PA, Brian (Susan) Monroe of Addison, NY, Carl (Valerie) Monroe of Sabinsville, PA and Bethany (John) Trikur of Franklin; 18 grandchildren, Joseph Nagy of Sabinsville, PA, Alison (Mili) Jasarevic of Long Beach, CA, Jareth Monroe of Columbus, OH, Kellan Monroe of Troupsburg, NY, Ryan (Ashley) Harris of Bath, NY, Justin (Lauren) Monroe of Addison, NY, William (Laura) Monroe of Addison, NY, Meaghan (Levi) Schoener of Rachel, WV, Derek (Adam Silva) Monroe of Pittsburgh, PA, Katelyn (Colie Smith) Monroe of Campbell, NY, Mario (Courtney) Wheater of Rochester, NY, Melissa (Chad) Hicks of Ulysses, PA, Ann (Derek Hall) Wheater of Wellsboro, PA, Matthew (Kelly) Wheater of Middleburg, PA, Alisha (Cody O’Dell) Wheater of Harrison Valley, PA, Ryan (Melanie Girovsky) Volz of Erie, PA, Tyler (Lindsey) Volz of Pooler, GA and Grace Trikur of Franklin, PA.

Also surviving are 33 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

Elizabeth will be laid to rest in Ulysses, PA.
