Eudora P. "Dorie" VanDyke, 92, of Shields Road, Slippery Rock, formerly of Harrisville, passed away at 7:15 p.m. Friday at the Grove City Medical Center. She was born in Hadley on Feb. 16, 1919, to George W. Stallsmith and Retta M. Maskrey Stallsmith. She was a 1937 graduate of Sheakleyville High School. She was employed as a nurse's aid at the former Spencer Nursing Home in Slippery Rock. She was a member of the Harrisville United Methodist Church, and she attended the West Unity Community Church for the past couple of years. At the Harrisville United Methodist Church, she was a member of the Friendship Sunday School class, the church quilting group, and was a former Sunday school teacher. She married Dallas J. VanDyke on Aug. 5, 1941. He died June 23, 2006. She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn G. Knight and her husband, Fred, of Cortland, Ohio; one son, Ronald D. VanDyke and his friend, Marybeth Lesko, of Slippery Rock; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, June Turner of Hadley and Susie Blackwood of Cleveland, Ohio; and one brother, Donald Stallsmith of Hadley. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Sherych; one granddaughter; four sisters; and two brothers. VANDYKE - Friends of Eudora P. "Dorie" VanDyke, who died Friday, July 15, 2011, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Boyd D. Smith of the West Unity Community Church officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Cemetery in Harrisville.
