Eugene "Gene" R. Kresenski

Eugene "Gene" Raymond Kresenski, 78 of Franklin passed away at 2:27 P.M. Wednesday June 10, 2015 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.

Born September 8, 1936 in Franklin he was the son of the late Max and Anna Kresenski.

Gene attended Scared Heart Academy and graduated in 1954 from Franklin High School. After high school he enrolled at Gannon University. He later graduated with a degree in architecture from Southern California University.

He proudly served his country with the Army Reserves.

Gene worked for many years as an Architect in the San Diego area for Frank Hope & Associates. He traveled all over the world working on projects in Saudi Arabia, China, England and Singapore. While in San Diego, Gene was the head architect for the Jack Murphy/ Qualcomm Stadium, He also participated in many projects including the San Diego Zoo and the Wild Animal Park. Gene helped start a running and bicycle club and plotted the trails throughout the city.

Upon his return to Franklin, Gene began working as Director of Building and Grounds for the Franklin Area School District. He was instrumental in the renovations in the elementary schools and Franklin High School.

Gene loved his community and helped lead the effort to revitalize the façade of the Barrow Civic Theater.

Surviving is his longtime companion, Amy Judson Burak of Franklin; a sister Marie Burns and her husband Jim of Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved dogs, Mac and Tosh.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Maxine Conners.

Funeral arrangements entrust to Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 312 W. Park St. Franklin where family and friends are welcome from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM Sunday.

A vigil service will be held at 4:30 P.M. Sunday in the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Monday at St. Patrick Church, 949 Liberty St. Franklin with Father Dan Kresenski, officiating

A private family interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery.
