Eula M. Clair, 93, died Sunday, August 28, 2016, at Hock Family Pavilion. She was born in Broken Bow, NE, the daughter of the late Claude Ernest Coffman and the late Gertrude Turner Coffman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Eugene Clair, and brother, Lewis Coffman.
She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Upon graduation, she moved to San Francisco, CA, to start her career as an Executive Secretary for United Air Lines, where she met her husband of 53 years, Michael E. Clair who was serving in the Military during WWII. Once married, she moved to Detroit, MI, where she continued her career as Office Manager for several small companies. Later in her career she entered real estate and became a very successful agent leading her company in sales.
Upon retirement, she and her husband moved to Omaha, NE, to be close to her family and remained there for 14 years. While in Omaha she was actively involved in the family's horse racing business, which she enjoyed immensely. In 1993, they moved to Durham, to again rejoin the family and be actively involved with her grandchildren. In 1996, she became an active member at Mt. Sylvan UMC, where she joined the Sylvan Seniors Group and participated in many of their activities and acquired many new friends.
Mrs. Clair is survived by her son, John L. Clair and his wife Pamela Andersen Clair; and grandchildren, Kristin E. Clair and Michael J. Clair.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, September 1st, at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham with Rev. Larry Bowden and Rev. Kathie Wilkinson officiating. Interment will be held at St. Patrick Church Cemetery in Franklin, PA. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home.
