Fredrick N. Vanistendael, 64 of Harrisville, passed away on February 28, 2017 at 9:15 pm. Fred was born in Grove City on September 26, 1952 to the late Morris Vanistendael and Margaret Wolford Shaffer.
Fred was a graduate of Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School and worked for many years at Slippery Rock Salvage and Cooper Bessemer. He married Patricia Redfoot on August 7, 1999, she survives. Together Fred and Patricia owned and operated Redfoot Mini-Storage for many years. Fred loved woodworking and working with his hands. He loved to farm his own land as well as hunt on it. He also loved to travel and go on road trips with his wife and mother-in-law.
In addition to his wife, Fred is survived by three sons, Varick W. Vanistendael and his wife Ruth, Christopher R. Vanistendael, and Robert J. Redfoot, four grandchildren, Angel Redfoot, Alex, Meghan, and Desera Vanistendael, three great-grandchildren, four brothers, Gary, Terry, Doug, and Bob, two sisters, Jean and Donna, his mother-in-law Margaret Redfoot, and three brothers-in-law, Donald, Keith, and David.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his step-father, Oliver Shaffer, and his Brother Morris Vanistendael.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Jamison Funeral Home, Inc. 117 N. Main St, Harrisville, where family and friends are welcome on Monday, March 6, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 6 at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with the Reverend Justin Spurgin, pastor of Messiah Baptist Church, officiating.
