Gale E. Briggs Sr., 76, of Franklin, passed away at 5:10 P.M. Friday, May 31, 2024 at Select Speciality Hospital in Erie.
Born in Warren, PA on August 26, 1947, he was the son of the late Charles C. Briggs and Grace C. Sweeney Briggs.
He was a graduate of Venango Catholic High School.
Gale proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was in the 4th Infantry Division and earned a National Defense Service Ribbon and Vietnam Service Ribbon.
Gale worked at the former CPT in Franklin for a number of years and also worked security at the former Pennzoil.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and attending gun raffles. Gale continued his love for hunting up until this past year when his health no longer permitted. Family was everything to Gale and he enjoyed spending time with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On September 22, 2011 he married the former Cindy Worst and she survives.
Also surviving are six children, Tracy Baptiste and her companion Josh Mazon of Sharon, Troy Briggs and his wife Anita Mercer, Theresa Briggs and her spouse Leroy Trauterman Jr. of Franklin; Gale Briggs Jr. and his wife Brenna of Franklin, Corey Briggs and his significant other Carmella Wilt of Franklin, Justin Briggs and his wife Nikole of Franklin; 19 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and several brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Karen.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin where family and friends are welcome from 1:00 - 3:00 & 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Tuesday.
Military Honors will be rendered by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel.
