Gertrude M. Reichl, 77 of Utica, passed away early Tuesday morning January 8, 2013 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca, following a courageous battle with a rare form of cancer.
Born September 15, 1935 in McKees Rocks, she was a daughter of the late John and Gertrude Ketter Hufnagel.
She was a 1953 graduate of McKees Rocks High School.
Gert and her husband owned and operated Sleepy Hollow Golf Course for 15 years. She was truly the heart and soul of Sleepy Hollow. She was loved by all and always had a smile for everyone she met.
Gert was a devoted mother and grandmother always putting her family first. She enjoyed baking for people and delivering her baked goods to friends throughout the community.
She was a true survivor in every sense of the word, having beat breast cancer and also survived a liver transplant for over 20 years.
On January 27, 1954, she married her best friend, Samuel F. Reichl, who survives.
Also surviving is a son; Sam Reichl and his wife Linda of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Shirley Antolik and her husband Steve of Pittsburgh and Janet Henderson and her husband Mike of Franklin; one sister, Lorena Trembulak of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Jackie Reichl, Chip Abramovic, and Ashley Reichl and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Michael Hufnagel.
There will be no visitation.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday in the New Lebanon Community Church 4166 Mercer Street, Sandy Lake, Pa. 16145 with Senior Pastor Dr. Richard Steinlechner, officiating.
