Gladys F. O?Neil, 96 formerly of 119 Prospect Ave., Franklin died at 3:45 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Wesbury in Meadville.
She was born in Foxburg on October 16, 1912, a daughter of John L. and Maude Stover Fulmer. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1931 and from Oil City School of Nursing in 1934.
After her schooling she was employed as a nurse at the Oil City Hospital and then as a nurse in the office of Dr. A. W. Goodwin and then from 1951 to 1978 at the Franklin Hospital, retiring as Director of Nursing.
She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church and the Friendship Circle Sunday School Class.
She was also a member of the United Methodist Women, the Civic Club and the AARP.
She married William M. O?Neil on July 30, 1938 and he died on he died on September 21, 1993.
Surviving is a daughter Nancy Hitching and her husband James. Marietta, GA; a son James E. O?Neil, Durango, CO; six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; two sisters Myrtle Lepley and Evelyn Burchfield both of Franklin; a brother Donald E. Fulmer and his wife Gerry, Franklin; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Glenn Fulmer and Harry Fulmer.
Friends will be received in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Sam Wagner associate pastor of the Christ United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will be made in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family suggests that donations be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 1135 Buffalo St., Franklin, PA 16323.
