Gladys M. Cross, 91, of 131 Meadville Pike, died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday September 29, 2011 at Sugar Creek Station.
A daughter of Samuel and Ethel Kerr Seber she was born in Franklin on March 12, 1920. She was a graduate of Franklin High School and Feller?s Beauty School in Oil City.
Mrs. Cross operated a beauty shop from her home for 40 years.
She was an active member of the Christ United Methodist Church and the Friendship Circle Sunday school class. For many years she served as superintendent of the junior department. Baking cookies and sharing them with her family and friends brought joy into her life. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband.
On July 23, 1938 she married George T. Cross who died October 13, 1999.
Surviving are a son James R. Cross and his wife Lois of Franklin, a daughter Peggy Atts and her husband Edwin of Utica; four grandchildren Jeffery Cross and his wife Karen of Seneca, Robert Cross and his wife Heidi of Franklin, Brian Atts of Utica and Barbara Hoffman and her husband Richard of Carlton; six great-grandchildren Morgan and Adam Cross of Seneca, Jacob and Noah Cross of Franklin, Kyle and Danielle Hoffman of Carlton. Also surviving is a sister Ella Mae Miller and her husband Harry of Franklin and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a granddaughter Deborah Ann Atts.
Friends will be received in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., from 2-4 & 7-9p. m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. David Janz, pastor of Christ United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery.
