Gloria H. Groger, 86 formerly of Hillcrest Ave., Oil City died at 10:15 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2009 in Sugarcreek Station.
She was born in Franklin on January 24, 1923 a daughter of Guy D. and Zelia Hunter Harper. She graduated from Rocky Grove High School.
Mrs. Groger was employed as a telephone operator with Bell Telephone and later with General Telephone in Oil City for over 37 years.
She was a member and treasurer for the Colonel Drake Telephone Pioneers.
She enjoyed gardening, reading, her dachshunds and especially being a mother and grandmother.
She married Russell Groger and he died on August 13, 1977.
Surviving is a daughter Linda S. Layton and her husband Jonathan, Gahanna, OH; three grandchildren Tera L. Brown and her husband Philip, Indianapolis, IN; Bryan T. Marsh and his wife Carissa, Wisconsin; Krista Harriger and her husband Andrew, Philadelphia; three grandchildren Austin, Ariel and Eva Brown, Indianapolis, IN; a sister Nancy C. Brooks and her husband Vernon, Kennerdell; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her patents and her husband.
There will be no visitation. A private funeral service will be held and interment will be made in the Franklin Cemetery. The Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin is in charge of the arrangements.
