Irene E. Richards

Irene E. Richards, age 94, died peacefully in her sleep on October 27, 2018 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa.

Irene was born in Winburne, Pa. to late Henry Turick, Sr. and Mary Turick on January 20, 1924.

Irene graduated from Cooper Township High School in 1942.

Irene also lived in Franklin, Treasure Lake, DuBois, Pa., and moved to Erie ten years ago to St. Mary's Skilled Care Medical Center on Asbury Road, Erie, Pa., to be close to her son, Roger W. Richards.

Irene worked in many professions, including the travel industry, banking, and the retail sector. She enjoyed her woman's boutique in DuBois and her work in the fur industry. Irene prided herself in her cooking and baking talent. She enjoyed entertaining and was "the life of the party!"

Irene was widowed at a young age, when her husband, Walter Richards, died on October 3, 1975. She also survived her daughter, Dorothy McCabe, who died April 3, 2001, and her infant granddaughter, Shannon.

Surviving Irene is her son, Roger W. Richards of Erie, daughter-in-law, Nedra K. Richards, grandson, Joe McCabe of Vancouver, Wa,.and his wife Melanie, great grandchildren, Olivia, Joe and Trinity. She is also survived by three step grandsons, Benjamin Brody of New York City, Michael Brody of Washington, D.C., and Dane Brody of Pittsburgh, Pa.

The family acknowledges and thanks the staff at St. Mary's Skilled Care Nursing Home for their compassionate care of Irene for the past ten years, and the end of life care by everyone at Hamot.

Visitation will precede the funeral by one hour at the First United Methodist Church, 1102 Liberty Street, Franklin, PA 16323.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Wade R. Berkey officiating.

Interment will be private.

Reception will immediately follow the funeral service at Bella Cucina Restaurant, 1234 Liberty Street, Franklin, Pa. 16323.
