Irene L. Plowman

Irene L. Plowman, 99 of Franklin passed away at 1:10 A.M. on Sunday September 14, 2014 at The Caring Place in Franklin where she had resided for a number of years. She was a long time resident of Dempseytown.

Born March 1, 1915 in Oakland Twp., she was a daughter and the oldest of seven children of late Rudolph P. and Ida Belle Crispen Larsen.

Irene graduated from Rocky Grove High School.

Over the course of her career, Irene worked for General Manifold in Franklin, CPT during WWII, Polk State School and finally the former Franklin Hospital as an Aide retiring in 1975.

She was an active and faithful member of the Oakland United Methodist Church. Irene was also involved with the Oakland Grange #281, Ladies Auxiliary of the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department, Minnie Rebekah #144, AARP and also volunteered for the Oakland Senior Citizens Group.

She first married Eugene Daniels on January 12, 1942 and he preceded her in death on August 20, 1978. Irene then married Rowland Plowman on April 10, 1994 and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2000.

Surviving are two daughters; Diana Lu Daniels of Springfield, OH and Carol Ann Shaneen and her husband Ronald of Oil City; one brother, Raymond F. Larsen of San Diego, CA; a step daughter, Darlene Plowman of Dempseytown; a step-son, Rowland Plowman and his wife Sandy of Oil City; a sister-in-law, Shirley Larsen of Franklin; and a special niece, Wilma Henderson of Ohio.

Additionally surviving are three grandchildren;, Heather Shaneen and her companion Derek Long of Oil City, and Michael Aaron Shaneen and Katrina Kee of Franklin; three great-grandchildren, Shayla Kee and Spencer Kee of Franklin and Baxter Long of Oil City; 10 step-grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter; Mary Jane Daniels, and two sisters, Helen M. Dunkle and her husband Dale, and Pearl C. Hopkins and her husband Dick; three brothers, Lawrence Larsen and his wife Hester, Richard Larsen, and Ralph Larsen; and two nephews, Robbie Larsen and Don Henderson.

There will be no visitation.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 312 W. Park St. Franklin.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday September 20, 2014 at Oakland United Methodist Church, 1431 State Route 428, Oil City, Pa. 16301 with Rev. Dr. Edward P. Saxman, Pastor of the church, officiating.

Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery.
