James Ralph Michael, 85, formerly of Harrisville and Grove City, died Sunday October 25, 2015 at Concordia of Cranberry in Cranberry Twp.
A son of Roy F. and Mary Hockenberry Michael, he was born in Harrisville on October 1, 1930. He was a graduate of Harrisville High School.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Korean War. He was a member of Harrisville American Legion Post # 852.
Jim had worked at Bessemer in Grove City for 20 years before managing gas stations in Grove City and Slippery Rock.
He enjoyed country music, playing cards and making people laugh.
On October 3, 1955 he married the former Virginia Barr, she preceded him in death on October 5, 2002.
Surviving are a daughter Tammy Michael Lane and her husband Donald Lane Jr. of Cranberry Twp., 5 grandchildren, Luke Michael, Bekah Lane, Ethan Lane, Jacob Michael and Colleen Michael, two great-grandchildren Madison and Landon Michael. A brother, George Michael and his wife Virginia, a sister-in-law Jean Michael, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sons Douglas and Rodney, a grandson Tyler Michael, 2 brothers Norman and Harold Michael and 2 sisters Velma Critchlow and Mildred Smith.
Friends will be received in the Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday.
Interment will be made in Prairie Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Concordia of Cranberry Twp.,10 Adams Ridge Blvd, Mars with Chaplain Roger Nuerge officiating.
