Joan Soana

Joan ?John? Soana, 91, of Rocky Grove, died Thursday afternoon March 7, 2013 at Sugar Creek Station.

He was born in Romania on March 27, 1921. He was veteran of World War II. A brother, several nieces and nephews still reside in Romania.

He and his wife came to the United States on February 14, 1952.

?John? was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church. For many years he enjoyed setting up for Bingo at the Rocky Grove Fire Department. He maintained his flower gardens, bowled in several leagues and enjoyed a game of cards with family and his companion.

On December 9, 1946 he married the former Rosa K. Schauer in Germany. She preceded him in death on June 12, 2001.

Surviving are two daughters Inge Jackson of Douglasville, GA and Irene Bodrogi of South River, NJ, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his companion Pat Melat and her family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a daughter Elizabeth.

Friends will be received in the Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 312 W. Park St. from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home following visitation at 8 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Edward Gresick, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
