Joanne M. Raymer of Grove City, formerly of Mercer, died at 11:10 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012, in Visiting Nurses Association Inpatient Hospice, Butler. She was 80.
Mrs. Raymer was born May 6, 1931, in Connellsville, Pa., to Joseph and Ethel Bailey Hood.
She was a graduate of Mercer High School.
Joanne was an licensed practical nurse and had worked at Countryside Convalescent Home, East Lackawannock Township; and the former Bashline Hospital, Grove City.
She attended Tower Presbyterian Church and formerly attended Grace United Methodist Church, both Grove City.
Joanne previously was an avid roller skater, for which she received many awards. She enjoyed cooking, her family and playing the organ.
She was married in October 1963 to William J. Raymer, who survives in Grove City.
Also surviving are: a daughter, Barbara A. Ferry, Arizona; four sons, William C. Raymer and his wife Judy, Denver; Terry Raymer and his wife Carol, California; Robert Raymer and his wife Jennie, Malaysia; and William R. Bonzer Jr. and his wife Beatrice, Grove City; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joe Hood, Mercer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Hood and Ethel Bailey Hood Mathison; a stepfather, Robert Mathison; a daughter, Linda Wolhart; a sister, Isabel Dempsy; and a brother, Oscar Hood.
