John G. Viele, 80, of 1016 Pone Lane, died Sunday July 1, 2012 at his home.
A son of Hugh C. and Yolanda G?danitz Viele he was born in Oil City on April 19, 1932. He was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School in Tennessee.
Following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served as a demolition specialist in Korea during the Korean War. He was awarded two bronze stars.
Talented in all things related to the maintenance industry he held varied positions during his career, most notably for Franklin Hardware and the Franklin Hospital before retiring from Anderson Furniture Co.
He enjoyed flying model airplanes.
He was married on July 26, 1976 to the former Pamela McKain, who survives along with a son John E. Viele of Conneautville; 4 daughters Yolanda E. Clark of Cooperstown, Carol Sigworth and her husband Jim of Hellerstown, Patricia Fenchok and her husband Joe of Titusville and Tamara Bell and her husband Paul of Cooperstown; 11 grandchildren Stephen, Dakota and Paige Viele, Kassidy, Austin and Gage Clark, Jeff Sigworth and his wife Karise, Christy DeAnseris and her husband Adam, Brian Skokowski, Jewel Rozanski and her husband Eric, and Hannah Bell. Two great-grandchildren Parker and Noelle Sigworth complete his family.
Funeral services will be held in the Graham Cemetery at 11 a.m. Monday with Rev. Sue Nageotte, pastor of Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the V.E.T.S.Honor Guard.
