John H. Marchibroda, 90, of Franklin, passed away early Sunday morning August 30, 2015 at The Caring Place.
A son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Marchibroda, he was born in Franklin on December 8, 1924.
He was a graduate of Franklin High School. Growing up in Franklin, where he resided his entire life, John played local baseball. He was known as one of the best shortstops in the area, nicknamed "Flash" by his teammates. He was an avid baseball fan throughout his life, following the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Boston Red Sox. John was especially proud of his younger brother, Ted, who played and coached NFL Football. John's favorite pastime was traveling to games with his family, or watching Ted's teams play on television.
John started his own business, Marchibroda Beverage Co. in 1950, and owned and operated it for 46 years.
He was a member of St. Patrick Church in Franklin.
On August 18, 1946, he married the love of his life, the former Eleanor Hudick at the Assumption Church in Oil City, PA. She preceded him in death on October 8, 2009.
John is survived by his daughter, Lorraine J. Marchibroda of Franklin, and his son, Dennis J. Marchibroda and his wife Lynn of Franklin. Also surviving is a brother, Ted Marchibroda and wife Anne, of Weems, VA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother, Steve Marchibroda and his sisters, Mary Dolecki and Wladzia (Ludge) Conrad.
There will be no visitation.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 312 W. Park St.
Franklin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at St. Patrick Church, 949 Liberty St. Franklin, with Monsignor John J. Herbein, officiating.
Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery.
