Joseph William Kline

January 13, 1929 — January 7, 2018

Joseph William Kline Jr., 88 of Front St. Franklin, went to Heaven at 9:40 P.M. on Sunday January 7, 2018 at Sugarcreek Station following a period of declining health.

A son of Joseph and Mildred May Kline, he was born January 13, 1929 in Raymilton.

Joe worked as a painter and wallpaper hanger for 50 years. He met his wife, the former Norma Jean Schaub at the former Franklin hospital after a fall from a ladder then he fell for her. They were married April 23, 1949 at the Grace United Methodist Church and she preceded him in death on February 24, 2013.

An active member of his church and community he volunteered for the boy scouts for 15 years, participated in the Appalachian Service Project for 15 years and also volunteered for the Rocky Grove Fire Department.
He loved to go hunting and fishing and enjoyed traveling to many destinations with his late wife; including, numerous location throughout the continental United States, Chile, Caribbean, five cruises, the Holy Lands, Belgium, Hawaii, Alaska and Canada.

Joe also loved teasing people and having people tease him. Most of all, he loved giving Hugs.

He is survived by three children; Michael Kline and his wife Linda of Midlothian, VA, Sandra Bender and her husband Gerald of Cranberry, and Garrett Kline and his wife Amy of Franklin; seven grandchildren, Rachel Shapert and her husband Aaron, Sarah Kline, and Susannah Kline all of Virginia, Joel Kline of Oregon, Joseph Bender of Maryland, Leigh Fry and her husband Dustin of Oil City, and Taylor Kline of Texas.; three great-grandchildren, complete his family, Sierra, Marissa, and Alexis Shapert.

He is additionally survived by four older sisters, Edith Kinney, Marge Bickel, Lenora Thomas and Anita Harpstrite.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, he was preceded in death by his brother Austin Kline and sisters, Ruth and Geraldine.

In accordance with his wishes there will be no public visitation or memorial service.

Memorial contributions, if desired may be sent to Grace United Methodist Church, 350 Front St. Franklin, PA 16323.
