Kenneth E. Beightol, 89, of Franklin died Thursday November 3, 2016 at Oakwood Heights, Oil City.
A son of Edward H. and Bessie Beatty Beightol, Ken was born in Franklin on May 17, 1927. He was a 1946 graduate of Franklin High School. During his high school years he worked at the Rose ice Cream Company.
Following graduation he accepted a position at General Manifold & Printing Company, where he worked for 18 years before going to work at Penn DOT. He retired in 1990 after 26 years of service with the state.
Ken was a long time member of the First Baptist Church. He was a 63 year member of Myrtle Lodge #316 F&A Masons, the Washington Club, KB Club, Franklin Kiwanis Club and A.A.R.P.
In his younger years Ken enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He more recently enjoyed watching sports on TV and cooking. He was well known for sitting on his porch and watching the traffic on 8th Street.
On June 12, 1948 he married the former Margaret Ann Barlow; she survives along with two sons James Randy Beightol and his wife Cheryl of Franklin and Robert A. Beightol and his wife Genice of Crystal River, FL; two daughters Ruth Ann Cangemi and her husband Joseph of Oil City and Martha Lynn Shreffler and her husband Bob of Venus. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren Melissa Beightol and Shelly (Chris) Burchanowski both of Franklin, Michael and Mark Cangemi of Oil City, Matthew Cangemi of Scottsdale, AZ, Kayla (Cory) Sherman and Eric Hoover all of Oil City, Kristen Shreffler of Venus and Alycia (Bobby) Amsler of Parker; 2 great-grandsons Kade J. Dennis and Bennett Burchanowski and a great-granddaughter Brooklyn Burchanowski all of Franklin.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Marvin E. Beightol.
Friends will be received in the Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 312 W. Park St. from 4-7 p.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Randy Powell, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating.
Interment will be made in the Franklin Cemetery.
