Kevin Thomas Mccartney

Kevin Thomas McCartney, 61, of Oil City, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Tuesday, September 3, 2019.

Born in Oil City on July 19, 1958, he was a son of Ethel Hargenrader Burch and the late Lawrence McCartney.

Kevin was a 1977 graduate of Oil City School. He worked for many years as a steel worker in various foundries.

Kevin was an avid sports fan, especially for the Pittsburgh Penguins. He looked forward to hockey season each year and attended several games with friends and family over the years.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, collecting sports memorabilia and hanging out with family and friends. Kevin was a devoted husband and father. Many considered him the "life of the party" and he was always able to make everyone laugh. He would help anyone in need whenever it was necessary. Kevin was an animal lover and had many beloved pets over the years.

On July 25, 1987, he married the former Pamela Sharp and she survives.

Also surviving are two children; Cameron McCartney of Oil City and Sheena McCartney of Oil City who were Kevin's pride and joy; two siblings, James McCartney and his wife Kay of Cochranton and Maryanne Mason and her husband Brent of Cranberry and many nieces and nephews and numerous close friends he has made throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his father; infant son, Dylan and step-father, Edward Burch.

He was a member of the Oil City Moose Club and the Oil City Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff - Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin where family and friends are welcome from Noon - 2:15 P.M. Saturday.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Justin Spurgin, Pastor of Messiah Baptist Church, officiating.

Interment will follow at Franklin Cemetery.
