Laura M. Sires

Laura M. Sires, 96 of Franklin passed away early Tuesday morning, June 7, 2016 at Sugar Creek Station where she has resided for the past several months.

Born March 3, 1920, she was a daughter of the late James and Anna Hazlett Urey.

Mrs. Sires was a homemaker. She had previously worked for a period of time in the dietary department of the Huron Road Hospital in Cleveland, OH.

She loved planting flowers and gardening around her house.

Laura will be remembered for always welcoming family and friends to the "Ranch" where everyone played dominos and cards together.

On May 2, 1937 she married John H. Sires and he preceded her in death on January 18, 1994.
Surviving are three children; Joan Socha and her husband Valentine of Reno, John Gary Sires and his wife Dottie of Nashville, TN, and Bruce Sires of Franklin; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by five brothers; James Urey, Frank Urey, Carl Robert Urey, William J. Urey, and Lyle Urey; two sisters, Zeldean Foster and Jenny Rodgers; and a grandson, Thomas M. Sires.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin where family and friends are welcome from 10:00 A.M. - 11:45 A.M. Thursday.

Funeral services will be held at Noon in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow at Old Sandy Cemetery.
