Leona "Mae" Hanna, 87, a longtime resident of the Bully Hill and Franklin area died Friday December 4, 2015 at Wesbury United Methodist Community where she had been residing.
A daughter of the late Victor J. and Hazel Foster Hanna, she was born in Franklin on May 3, 1928.
Aunt Mae, as she was known to most of her nieces and nephews, was an animal lover at heart, especially horses and cats. She was a strong independent woman who thoroughly enjoyed farm life and the hard work that was involved.
She was a lifelong member of the East Grove United Methodist Church. She was a member of the local Venango County Sheriff's Posse and rode in many of their trail rides.
In 1988 she retired from the dietary department at Polk Center.
Surviving are her three sisters; Frances Hazlett, Pauline Hoovler and Jean Dunlap along with several loving nieces and nephews.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Foster Hanna and three nephews.
At her request there will be no public visitation or memorial service.
