Lois Moyar

January 8, 1908 — May 11, 2010

Lois V. Moyar died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 11 at the age of 102 on the family homestead where she was born on January 8, 1908. She was the daughter of Bert and Jessie Rasor Shontz and is survived by one sister, Mildred Shelvey.
She married William T. Moyar on December 31, 1936 and they moved to Houston, Texas where they lived for thirteen years until moving back and building a home next to the house where she was born. She took loving care of her mother in her mother?s declining years. She was active in the Franklin Civic Club and Masonic organizations and enjoyed playing cards in neighborhood groups. She regularly visited shut-ins and people in nursing homes and was always helpful to her extended family. She cherished the remembrances and reminders of her childhood that surrounded her and loved being in her home. Although she travelled as far as Australia, she always thought Pennsylvania was the best place in the world. In her later years, she took special delight in visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and in hearing of their accomplishments.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Bert and Marjorie Moyar of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, three grandsons and grand daughters-in-law, David and Monica Burton Moyar, of New York City, Mark and Kelli Moyar, of Woodbridge, VA and Dean and Sharlyn Moyar, of Baltimore, MD, as well as five great-grandchildren, Greta, Lois, Trent, Luke and Dylan.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband who died November 9, 1996.
