Louise Asquith Liljenstein Salerno, 82, of 427 Edgewood Drive, Franklin, died on Saturday, December 3, 2011, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on January 22, 1929 in East Stroudsburg, PA, Mrs. Salerno was the daughter of the late Oscar John and Ida Asquith Liljenstein.

Mrs. Salerno was a registered nurse who, after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, practiced nursing for over 40 years in multiple states, including Pennsylvania, Virginia, Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana. She was a loving wife and mother of three children. She volunteered in multiple organizations throughout her life, most recently in Franklin, her home for the last five years.

Mrs. Salerno was a member of St. John?s Episcopal Church and was active in the Shepard?s Green Food Pantry, and Tuesday Afternoon Women?s Ecumenical Bible Study Group, and St. John?s Women?s Group. She was also an active member of both the Franklin YMCA and the Wednesday Club.

She was married to John Joseph ?Jack? Salerno, her husband of 50 years, on June 2, 1951. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack and by both of her daughters, Lynne Michelle Salerno and Cynthia Louise Salerno.

Mrs. Salerno is survived by her son and his wife, Mark and Debbie Salerno of Franklin; her sister, Doris Stevens of Westport, CT; and five grandchildren and their families: Matthew and Elise Salerno and their son, Corbin, of Charlottesville, VA; Angela Salerno of Atlanta, GA; Amy Salerno and Drew Harris of Atlanta, GA; Julia and Kyle Parker-McGlynn of Pullman, WA; and Jenna Salerno of Cleveland. She is also survived by her much loved poodle, Blitzen.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M. on Saturday January 28, 2012 at St. John?s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Holly A. Davis, Rector officiating.

A reception will be held immediately after the service in the parish social hall until 4:30 P.M.
