Luella Mae Rutledge, 93, of 189 Pone Lane, formerly of Fort Myers, Florida, died early Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.
Born January 21, 1918 she was the daughter of the late Gilbert Samuel and Eva Mae Burns Hagerty.
She was first married to Chester D. Hughes and had four children. She later married Aubrey S. Rutledge in August of 1968 at the Olga Baptist Church in Fort Myers where they were both very active. More recently, Luella was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin.
Children of Luella include a daughter Beverly Lake and her husband Denton of Franklin and a son David Hughes and his wife Shelley of Fort Myers, FL. Two sons, Perry Hughes and Philip Hughes, preceded her in death.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Jeff Lake and his wife Julie of Franklin, David Lake and his wife Leanna of Irwin, Craig Lake and his wife Jenifer of Charlestown, SC, Betsy Updegrave and her husband David of Reno, Kimberly Lunger of Fort Myers, FL, Troy Hughes and his wife Kathy of Fort Myers, FL, Jill Hughes of Fort Myers, FL, Chele Bible of Athens, OH, and Patte White and her husband John of Hixson, TN and 28 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St. from 7-9 p.m. Friday. A celebration of her life will be held in the Christ United Methodist Church, 1135 Buffalo Street, Franklin at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. David Janz officiating.
Interment will be made in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens.
