Mabel D. Bruner, 93 of 2241 Rocky Grove Ave. died at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. She was born in Oil City on March 12, 1916 a daughter of Charles and Anna Welms Dillemuth. She graduated from Oil City High School. Mrs. Bruner was very involved in politics serving as vice chairperson of the Republican Party for many years. She and her husband traveled to Florida where they would host the Pennsylvania Republican Delegation. She also served as a jury commissioner. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Franklin and past president of the Franklin Woman?s Club, and worked with the Venango County Historical Society. Mrs. Bruner loved working with people and was a volunteer for various organizations throughout the county. She married Charles R. Bruner on February 18, 1937 and he died on August 13, 1987. Surviving are two daughters Anna Baker, Franklin; Joan Hayen and her husband Henry, New Smyrna Beach, FL; two grandchildren Bradley Hayen and his wife Kim, Roswell, GA; Brian Hayen and his wife Julie, Newburg, N.Y.; three great-grandchildren, Rebecca Hayen, Newburg, N.Y.; Elsie and Parker Hayen, Roswell, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers and sisters Charles Dillemuth, Ruth Turk, AlmaHon� McClelland, Rachael Dillemuth, and a sister in infancy. Friends will be received in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Richard Harry pastor of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be made in the Franklin Cemetery. The family suggests that donations be made to the Venango County Humane Society, PO Box 1045, Oil City, PA 16301.
