Margaret A. Mong, 87 of Franklin passed away at 9:20 P.M. Thursday November 15, 2012 at Sugar Creek Station.
Born November 9, 1925 in Franklin she was a daughter of the late Harry and Sadie McKinnley Reed.
She was a graduate of Rocky Grove High School and the former St. Mary?s Nursing School in Meadville where she graduated as a registered nurse.
Margaret worked as a nurse for 18 years at CPT and also at the offices of Dr. Brown. She retired after many years of nursing at the former Franklin Hospital.
Mrs. Mong was of Methodist Faith and enjoyed attending Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin.
She was an active member of the Eastern Star.
She enjoyed spending time with her family at the river camp.
On September 27, 1946 she married Melvin Mong Jr. and he preceded her in death on December 26, 1985.
Surviving is a son, Tom Mong and his wife Sarah of Brazoria, TX; a daughter, Sally Burrows of Colorado; a son in law, James Mawhinney of Franklin; five grandchildren, Michelle Butkiewicz, of TX, Rusty Mawhinney, of CO, Ben Mawhinney of Franklin, Alan Burrows of CO, and Whitney Martindale of CO; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sonja Mawhinney; a brother, Harry Reed; and two sisters, Jane Fulmer and Dot Hardy.
There will be no visitation.
Family and friends are invited at a memorial service at 1:00 P.M. Sunday at Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 312 West Park St. Franklin with the Rev. Randy L. Kightlinger, Hospice Chaplain for VNA of Venango County, officiating.
Interment will be made at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens
