Marie Fox Cenedella

Marie Fox Cenedella, 64, of 660 Forest Lane, Franklin, died at 3:25 a.m. August 12, 2010 at UPMC Medical Center.
Marie was born in Newport News, Virginia on December 14, 1945, a daughter of Howard Leroy and Helen Manock Fox.
She graduated from Warwick High School in 1963 and studied at Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia. In 1967, she graduated from the Medical College of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy.
On January 13, 1968 at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Newport News, VA, she married Dr. Stephen Charles Cenedella, and he survives.
Marie moved to Franklin with her family in 1972. In addition to raising her children, Marie became an active member of the community. She served on several boards of directors including the VNA, the YMCA, and the Kirtland Foundation. In 1981, she was elected to School Director on the Franklin Area School Board and served eight years in this capacity.
She was a faithful member of St. Patrick Church. Having served as president of the St. Patrick Parish Council, she was instrumental in the renovation and expansion of St. Patrick School.
Marie was also a longstanding member of both the Venango County Historical Society and the Wednesday Club. She was a practicing genealogist who spent 30 years researching the ancestry of her Fox family.
Marie was a dedicated mother who took pride in her children and grandchildren. She cherished the time spent with her family especially holidays at her children?s homes and vacations at Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, NY.
In addition to her husband of 42 years, she is survived by her children including Stephen Cenedella and his wife Stephanie of Boulder, CO; Gayle Nelson and her husband Casey of Wayland, MA; Carly Hunt and her husband Peter of Rochester, NY; and John Cenedella and his wife Aie of Bangkok, Thailand. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren including Oliver and Violet Cenedella; Connor, Maxwell and Sadie Nelson; Jackson, Hadley, Ashton, and Bowen Hunt; and Austin Cenedella.
Also surviving are her siblings including Frances Fox of Newport News, VA; Betty Jo Barnett of Lanexa, VA; and Howard Fox of Williamsburg, VA. She is also survived by six nieces and nephews all of Virginia.
Friends will be received on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Huff Chapel, 312 West Park Street, Franklin.
A vigil and rosary will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday during the visitation.
Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church in Franklin on Monday at 11:00 a.m. by Monsignor John J. Herbein.
Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery following the service.
