Martha MargueriteSusie� Witherup, 92, formerly of 253 Pone Lane, Franklin, died at 10:30 a.m. Monday in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. She had been residing in The Caring Place. She was the last remaining member of her family.
She was born in Rockland on November 19, 1917 a daughter of Frank Leslie and Julia Ellen McCarty Borland.
She was the last surviving member of her graduating class at Rockland High School. After high school she graduated from Erie Business College.
She had worked at Quaker State in Oil City.
Mrs. Witherup was a member of St. Patrick Church, Rosary Altar Society, former member of the St. Patrick?s Senior Choir, Catholic Daughters of America and a charter member of the Christian Mothers.
She loved music, played the piano, sang for many family gatherings and she wrote and performed skits for the Catholic Daughters.
She was always smiling and was loved by all who met her. She was also a lover of all kinds of animals and would name them all.
She was married to J. ForestFory� Witherup on September 4, 1943 by Msgr. Thomas Downey in St. Patrick?s Rectory. Fory died on April 30, 1985.
Surviving are a son Kevin Witherup and his wife Margaret, Oil City; a daughter Diane Witherup, Franklin; granddaughter Lauren Witherup, Erie; grandson, Michael McFadden and his wife Cindy, Oil City; nieces and nephews, Vincent Witherup and his wife Lee, Ann Rudegeair and her husband Marty, Robert Witherup and his wife Becky all of Franklin; Mary Beth Witherup, New York City; Frank Borland and his wife Peggy, Richard Borland and his wife Mary Anne all of Rockland; Greg Borland and his wife Connie, Ft. Wayne, IN; Julia Larimore and her husband Don, Turtletown, TN; many great nieces and nephews and loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters Bernice Borland and Louise Witherup, brothers Rudolph Borland and Walter Borland, nephews Richard Witherup, BarryJeep� Witherup and James Witherup.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin.
A vigil service will be conducted in the funeral home at 3:30 Wednesday by Deacon Richard Reed.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Patrick Church with Msgr. John Swoger, pastor of St. Joseph Church in Oil City as the celebrant.
Interment will be made in St. Patrick Cemetery.
The family suggests that donations be made to St. Patrick?s School, 952 Buffalo St, Franklin, 16323; The Venango County Humane Society, PO Box 1045, Oil City, PA 16301 or the Barrow Civic Theatre, 1223 Liberty St., Franklin, PA 16323.
