Michael David Phipps

Michael D. Phipps, 57, of 1107 Grandview Rd. died at 10:03 p.m. Thursday August 19, 2010 at UPMC Northwest.
A son of Leroy and Gloria Chamberlain Phipps he was born in Franklin on May 6, 1953. He was a 1971 graduate of Franklin High School.
He was a veteran of the United State Navy serving from 1971 until 1975.
Mr. Phipps served on the police force of Sugarcreek Borough for ten years. For 25 years he was an automobile salesman with various dealerships in Venango County.
Mike was a faithful member of the Grace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was eagerly awaiting the birth of his first grandchildren. He was an avid card player and enjoyed golfing.
On April 10, 1976 he married the former Robin Heller who survives along with three daughters Melissa Brand and her husband Jason of Honolulu, HI, Jessica Phipps of Oil City and Kara Willy and her husband Dan of Phillipsburg, NJ., two sisters Melinda Reese and her husband Gregg of Treasure Lake and Michelle Bogardus and her husband John of Dunkirk, NY. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law Mary Lou Carson and her husband Roy, Amy Jo Gaertner and her husband Bill and a brother-in-law Bill Heller and his wife Vicki all of Franklin and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no public visitation or services. Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, 320 Bilmar Dr., Pittsburgh PA 15205-4620 or Grace Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 325, Franklin PA 16323.
